This simple and affordable system is based on DIRECT rainwater harvesting with no dependence on roofs and can be deployed anywhere, even in the bush. Water is collected from movable harvesting panels to water ponds and transported by gravity or pump (if needed) to the Point of Use.
Example: Rain Water Harvesting Surfaces – based on 400 mm rain/season
• Main Surfaces - 2 x Panel Surface of 5 x 4 m – collecting 16,000liters
• Pond Cover – 2 x Panel surface of 3 x 4 m – collecting 9,600liters
• Water pond surface 2 x 3 x 4 m – collecting 9,600 liters
The system is scalable according to each site needs.
Bhungroo system for regional scale program
Bhungroo is a proprietary World Bank-awarded rain water harvesting technology and product created in India by Biplab Paul.
Bhungroo injects and stores excess rainfall/flooding water underground. During dry period the water is lifted out for use in agriculture.
